$30 Million Dollars: Is Jeremy Lin Worth It?

A colleague of mine recently picked me up from the office in his new BMW 5 series.  He was kind enough to let me drive it.  Driving out of downtown, I was not impressed.

The suspension was too harsh for a luxury car—especially through the pothole lined streets—the brakes too grabby, its wide body made turning difficult.  It wasn’t until we reached the highway that I realized its potential. 

The harsh suspension and wide body now gave incredible handling, and its previously untapped power proved quite capable when I decided to stretch my right foot. 

Likewise, it is the same with athletes. 

If you limit them, you will never know what they are capable of.  Jeremy Lin is not a performance sedan, but until February 4th, he did not get quality minutes.  The end results were poor performances and little confidence in him not only from fans, but also from himself.
