1. Introducing New Digital

Hana Nielsen-Kneisler is the newest

Mandarin and some Spanish.

working with Digital Dividends and several other programs
at WRI. He is the president of The Knowledge Initiative (TKI),
a non-profit organization concerned with issues of knowledge
and economic development. Through TKI, he spent several years
working in Southern Africa and Central Europe to establish
state-of-the-art knowledge resource centers. He has also consulted
with the Center for Global Development, Winrock International,
and a number of major foundations, and spent more than 30
years in the business world.
2. Funding Opportunity: Pan
Asia ICT R&D Grants Program
The Pan Asia ICT R&D Grants Program has announced its January

3. From the Digital Dividend
Clearinghouse: GLOBALMICROCOM and North-East Digital Action
Eight new projects have been added to the Clearinghouse since
our last Digest. Highlighted in this Digest are two projects
focusing on individual and organizational capacity-building
through computer training services.
Aiming to help end poverty among rural communities in Nigeria,
GLOBALMICROCOM is providing free
Internet training and computer awareness classes. Utilizing
state-of-the-art computers loaded with the latest software,
the training centers specifically focus on the most marginalized
populations, particularly women. Read

Partnered with IBM and the Inter-American Foundation, RITS
(Information Network for the Third Sector) has launched
a campaign to provide 40 organizations in the poorest region
of Brazil with a free computer and training on how to use
it. Training will extend beyond basic functional operation
to include a broader focus on how computers and the Internet
can be used to strengthen the organizations' missions and
services. Read more
*You can view and comment on these and other projects when
you visit the Clearinghouse
4. Make the Clearinghouse
Work For You! The ProjectFinder
The Digital Dividend ProjectFinder is the most all-inclusive
project search method available on the site, combining all
of the capabilites of our standard Search page with a GIS-enabled
map of the world. Search results are displayed visually in
their actual locations, color-coded based on the project's
sector (blue for for-profit, green for non-profit, and red
for government). The map is interactive, allowing the user
to zoom in or out, and easily locate more information on projects
of interest with a click of the mouse.
Download the ProjectFinder and try it out!
The Project Finder requires a broadband connection; those
with slower connections may find it easier to search for projects
using our standard Search page
