1. Clearinghouse Users Express
Interest in "Contributor Network"
The Digital Dividend Team has been receiving a growing number
of e mails from users like you, wondering if they can be of
help as we continue to grow the Clearinghouse. In fact, your
help is critical. In its fifteen months of operation, the
Clearinghouse has grown from zero to 700 IT for development
projects.
But we know that the number of projects out there is growing
even faster. Our limited staff is increasingly hard pressed
to keep up so we would like to capitalize on your support
and encourage you to join us in identifying new and innovative
IT for development projects serving those at the "bottom of
the economic pyramid."
Do you know of a project that should be included in the Clearinghouse?
We'd like to invite you to become a Clearinghouse Contributor
and submit that project directly. To join, or for more details,
please e-mail us. And
stay tuned for a new Clearinghouse Contributors page coming
soon to www.digitaldividend.org!
2. New in the Digital Dividend
Clearinghouse: GEM Software and HP's iCommunity Initiative
(South Africa)
8 new projects have been added to the Clearinghouse since
our last edition of the Digest. Among the highlights are an
enabling software and a new initiative from HP…
The GEM software provides a means
for determining whether ICTs are really improving women's
lives and gender relations, helping managers integrate gender
analysis into evaluations of initiatives that use ICTs for
social change. Read

With an eye to business sustainability, Hewlett-Packard has
inaugurated a new public-private partnership, the iCommunity
initiative, to create sustainable economic and social development
opportunities through ICTs in underserved areas of South Africa.

3. Make the Clearinghouse
Work For You! Saved Searches
What kind of projects are you interested in? Microfinance
programs that use handheld computers? Nonprofit education
projects focused on the empowerment of women? The Clearinghouse
makes it easy for registered users to mine the data according
to their interests and specialties. If you find yourself repeating
the same searches over and over, why not save them? You will
then find your personal 'Saved Searches' at the bottom of
the Search page every time you log in, making it easy to rerun
that search whenever you need to.
Try it--register or log in at the Clearinghouse
