Video of J.R. Smith’s Altercation with HS Student in November 2015 Released

In November, Cleveland Cavaliers guard J.R. Smith was involved in an alleged altercation with a teenager on a New York City street after he declined to take a picture.  

On Monday, Deadspin posted footage of the incident, which reportedly occurred on the corner of West 17th Street and 10th Avenue in Manhattan (warning: NSFW language in video): 



According to the New York Post's Rebecca Rosenberg and Daniel Prendergast, 19-year-old Justin Brown alleged that the Cavaliers shooting guard choked him after he made a joke about the January 2015 trade that sent him from the New York Knicks to the Eastern Conference champions. 


In January, Rosenberg reported that charges against Smith had been dropped. 

"After a thorough investigation of the circumstances surrounding this case, we have concluded that the evidence does not support criminal charges against Mr. Smith," Manhattan district attorney spokesman Patrick Muncie said in a statement, per Rosenberg.
