Amar’e Stoudemire Injury: Updates on Knicks Star’s Knee

New York Knicks star Amar'e Stoudemire will be forced to have immediate surgery on his injured knees, keeping him out of action for around six weeks.

ESPN's Ian Begley reported the following:



Stoudemire played 29 minutes in the Knicks' one-point loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday, but he did not participate in the team's shootaround on Saturday.

The news of the injury—coupled with the ongoing injury concerns of Carmelo Anthony—will make for terrible viewing for Knicks fans. After all, the franchise was truly starting to dominate in the Eastern Conference and looked prime for a strong playoff run—something that is very up in the air now.

New York will no doubt still be in a competitive spot come the start of the 2013 NBA playoffs, currently sitting at 37-22 with the third-best record in the East.

It's hard not to see that record dropping somewhat given the injuries to Stoudemire and Anthony, especially with the former likely to miss six weeks of action. That would take the the 30-year-old right up until the start of the playoffs, with the regular season concluding on A ...
